Getting started

  1. Open Settings and paste your Anthropic API key (starts with sk-ant-). The key is stored in the iOS Keychain.
  2. Tap the scan button on the home screen. Allow camera and photo permissions when prompted.
  3. After capture, tap Translate / Summarize to send the OCR’d text to your own Anthropic account.

Where to get an Anthropic API key

Sign up at console.anthropic.com and create a key under API Keys. Usage and billing stay on your account — DOXcanner has no shared key and no operator backend.

Frequently asked

Are my scans uploaded anywhere? No. Images stay on your device. Only the OCR’d text is sent to Anthropic, and only when you tap translate / summarize.

Why does the app need photo library access? So you can import an existing photo of a document instead of capturing a new one.

A scan didn’t translate.

  • Check that your Anthropic API key is valid and that the account has credit.
  • Check your internet connection.
  • If the OCR result is empty (e.g. blurry capture), translation is skipped — retake the scan.

Camera permission prompt never appears. Open iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera → DOXcanner and grant access. If DOXcanner is missing from the list, reinstall the app — this almost always indicates the install bundle was missing a permission declaration.

How do I delete everything? Delete the app from the home screen. iOS removes the sandbox and the Keychain entry together.

Known limitations

  • iPhone only. iPad is not supported in 1.0.
  • OCR languages: English and Korean (Latin + Hangul script recognizers).
  • Translation quality depends on the Claude model — DOXcanner currently uses claude-haiku-4-5.

자주 묻는 질문

스캔한 이미지가 어디로 업로드되나요? 아니요. 이미지는 기기 안에 머뭅니다. 번역 / 요약을 누른 시점에 한해 OCR된 텍스트만 Anthropic으로 전송됩니다.

왜 사진 라이브러리 권한이 필요한가요? 이미 찍어둔 문서 사진을 새로 스캔하지 않고 가져오기 위해서입니다.

스캔 후 번역이 안 됩니다.

  • Anthropic API 키가 유효하고 계정에 잔액이 있는지 확인하세요.
  • 인터넷 연결을 확인하세요.
  • OCR 결과가 비어 있으면 (예: 흐릿한 캡처) 번역 단계가 건너뜁니다 — 다시 스캔하세요.

카메라 권한 팝업이 안 뜹니다. iOS 설정 → 개인정보 보호 및 보안 → 카메라 → DOXcanner에서 직접 허용하세요. 목록에 DOXcanner가 보이지 않으면 앱을 재설치해 주세요 — 거의 항상 설치 번들의 권한 선언 누락이 원인입니다.

모든 데이터를 지우려면? 홈 화면에서 앱을 삭제하세요. iOS가 샌드박스와 키체인 항목을 함께 제거합니다.

알려진 제약

  • iPhone 전용. 1.0에서는 iPad를 지원하지 않습니다.
  • OCR 언어: 영어와 한국어 (Latin + Hangul 인식기).
  • 번역 품질은 Claude 모델에 따라 달라집니다 — DOXcanner는 현재 claude-haiku-4-5를 사용합니다.
